Alejandro Alvarez Reyes

Second generation railroader and Civil Engineer from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and Master in Transportation (Railway Engineering) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He began his professional career in Ferromex -Mexico´s largest Class I Railroad- almost twenty years ago and he also has experience in project management, construction, and real estate. In recent years, he has worked in the field of consulting, where he has collaborated with different national and foreign companies and as an independent consultant focused on transportation projects.

In the academic field, Mr. Álvarez is an associate lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Since 2012, he has taught the subject of railways. He also did research on Rail Engineering topics at RailTEC-University of Illinois.

From December 2018 to February 2021, he served as CEO of the Rail Transportation Regulatory Agency of the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation of Mexico. His current role is as Senior Staff Project Engineer at ENSCO, rail industry leader in advanced technologies for the passenger, transit and freight markets.
