Colin Neil Brooks

Dr. Colin Brooks has over 30 years of experience in the application of remote sensing and GIS technologies to the modeling and understanding of environmental processes and transportation systems. He is currently a Principal Investigator for MTRI Inc., a small business startup focused on commercializing advanced remote sensing research of the Michigan Tech Research Institute, a research center of Michigan Technological University. He has led research projects on bridge condition assessment, unpaved road condition evaluation, mapping of invasive aquatic plants, freight flow monitoring, bridge scour, wetland assessment, unmanned aerial vehicle applications, slope stability assessment, bridge inspection tools, asset management, decision support systems, and rail network modeling. He has a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Michigan Technological University, a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management from Duke University, and a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Forestry from Lenoir-Rhyne College.
