Jaeik Lee

Jaeik Lee is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Rail Transportation and Engineering Center (RailTEC) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois). He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Pusan National University (2015) and master’s degree in Railway Construction from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (2020) in South Korea. He worked as a Civil Engineer for KORAIL (Korea Railroad) from 2016 to 2018, with a focus on track maintenance and management of track components and alignment to improve the train operation stability. His current railroad interests at RailTEC are evaluating and improving track components; an example being Engineered Interspersed Concrete Crossties using field and laboratory experimentation and finite element modeling.
