James Bertrand

Jim Bertrand is a lifelong learner and career railroader with international railway experience working and educating railroaders in North America, Europe, Brazil and Australia. His career started with Canadian National Railway (CN) in 1975 and he currently is employed as a Railway Works Engineer – Infrastructure with Transport Canada Rail Safety supporting infrastructure compliance monitoring inspection programs and mentoring federal railway infrastructure inspectors. Jim completed a BSC degree in Civil Engineering at University of Calgary, is a Lifetime Member of AREMA and a member of Committees 5 – Track and 24 – Education and Training. In addition to being an Industry Mentor for University of Manitoba AREMA Student Chapter, with 47+ years experience in the industry Jim has supported scores of railway industry professionals and volunteered with AREMA in delivering many Introduction to Practical Railway Engineering (IPRE) courses in the last two decades.
