William Wong, PE

ARUP

Will is a Senior Fire Engineer in Arup’s Boston office. He is currently involved with code consulting, performance based design, fire effects modeling, as well as egress and pedestrian planning simulation on a variety of projects in different sectors and many industries.

Will has experience in fire modeling using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) programs Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) and Ansys FLUENT. He also has conducted egress and people movement simulations using the computer pedestrian planning models MassMotion and STEPS.

During his Master’s thesis studies, Will designed and conducted extensive full-scale flame spread experiments in the Fire Safety Laboratory at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Experimental data from the tests were published for academia’s use in the validation of fire simulation programs. This experience gives him a strong academic and practical background in applying scientific principles to realize life safety in designs.
